I got an invite call from Chanel for the launching of the new Chanel perfume. After decades of its popularity they decided to re-create a new one? New fragrance of Chanel which is “Chanel No.5 L’EAU Parfum” is very interesting. What was intriguing to know is, what this new perfume got to offer over the classic Chanel No.5?
Fun Fact – the original Chanel No.5 perfume was made popularby none another than Gabrielle Chanel or also know as “Coco Chanel”.
Similar to the other attendees I did not fully understand the story behind Chanel No.5. Fortunately for us Chanel sent their Singapore in house perfume expert Jean to tell us the story.
Chanel No. 5 was created in 1921. A clever French and belle of the Parisian social elite “Coco Chanel” had created a scent that revolutionised the way women smell. Ernest Beaux was the man who have created the No.5 perfume for Coco Chanel. He placed before of Coco ten samples and divided them into two groups. The first half Ernest Beaux numbered from one through five andthe second one is from twenty through twenty-four. Coco chose the sample No. 5. Why?
“I always launch my collection on the 5th day of the 5th months, so the number 5 seems to bring me luck therefore, I will name it No. 5.”- COCO CHANEL
It was a game changer of its day and it was so popular that one bottle of Chanel No.5 perfume was sold every 5 mins in the whole world. Ninety years later Chanel No.5 is arguably one ofthe world’s most iconic perfume.
Chanel No.5 L’EAU Parfum – OLIVIER POLGE
So what is with this new reinterpretation of Chanel No.5 L’EAU Parfum?
So, when it was time to rethink Chanel No. 5, coincidentally the fifth reinterpretation of the scent in 95 years, who has been working as a perfumer at International Flavors & Fragrances and counts many excellent perfumes in his portfolio will be replacing his father as Creator of Chanel Fragrances.Olivier Polge has apparently been working on this new perfume “Chanel No.5 Leau” composition since 2013. His bold perspective went into overdrive. Polge, wanted to create the freshest version of Chanel No. 5 but not to overhaul it completely.
As all things CHANEL, its perfume is created toperfection, with the highest quality ingredients that is made in France.
Chanel No.5 L’EAU Parfum

- Heart notes -Ylang-Ylang – Extracted up to its superior grade level to get the sweet scent like strawberries andMay Rose-Rose de Mai (rose that blooms only in May)
- Base notes – cedar and white musk.
The emblematic heart of the bouquet unfolds with Rose, Jasmine and a new fraction of Ylang Ylang, more modern than ever. Behind this floral whirlwind lies an unprecedented sense of liveliness: the vibrant echo of Cedar, accompanied by soft and cottony Musk notes.
At the end of our conversation Jean gave me this ceramic Chanel logo bracelet and sprayed 8 times from the bottle and said that the scent will liveon this ceramic for years. Then when I told her OMG then this bracelet should be kept in a volt, On a high note shed said “remember this is the time where we need to show others the luxury of a woman everyday.
I have tons of perfumes and 3 from Chanel (Coco Mademoiselle, Chanel Chance and Chance Eu Tendre) I have been wanting to get the mother of all before these perfumes was invented and none other but Chanel No.5 L’EAU Parfum. This is a great riff of a classic, a way to wear everyday instead of the classic. Of course, you can wear #5 classic everyday.
I may be too young to fall in the shoes of the classic Chanel No. 5 but what I know for sure is I am not too old to wear the Chanel L’eau No. 5 🙂
Chanel L’eau No.5 targeted the new generation of women YOUNGand with FUTURE.
